What Is Hand Rejuvenation?

Our hands are often one of the first places where we see signs of aging. As they are rarely covered or protected, they are susceptible to factors like constant sunlight exposure and contact with surfaces and elements. The best-case scenario is signs of aging, but many people also notice other cosmetic changes to their skin’s texture, tone, and quality. Hand rejuvenation aims to push back against these changes through naturally restorative treatments. Our non-surgical options work with the body’s natural regenerative mechanisms to improve the appearance and feel of your hands.

Hand Rejuvenation Treatment Options

Our treatments all focus on using minimally invasive interventions to activate the body’s own ability to restore treatment areas. Namely, this is done by treatments that stimulate the body to produce new collagen and elastin while repairing tissues by replacing them with new cells. No incisions, no scarring, no long recoveries. Only results.

Smooth Threads

Placing PDO threads beneath the skin on the back of the hands is a popular means of hand rejuvenation. The threads encourage increased blood flow to the treated area, boosting collagen production and activating the body’s healing mechanisms.

Microneedling

Microneedling works by creating many small punctures with a specialized device. These tiny holes are small enough not to be visually noticeable while still promoting the body’s natural response to a wound. Your body naturally will begin new collagen production and cell restoration at the treatment sites, creating a smoother, more even appearance and feel to the treated skin.

Exosomes

These naturally occurring vesicles are key for cell-to-cell communication, which can break down over time. By restoring the mediation between cells with exosome treatment, patients can see gradual and lasting improvements to the skin around their hands.

Fillers

Special dermal fillers can also provide hand rejuvenation by restoring lost volume. Depending on the type of filler used, patients may also see improved collagen production.

Is Non-Surgical Hand Rejuvenation Right for Me?

Hand rejuvenation can be an excellent solution for patients of all ages. Our treatments can serve as preventative measures, slowing the effects of aging before they appear. But they are also ideal for restoring a more youthful look and feel to your hands. Some of the main concerns that this treatment can address include the following:
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Loss of smooth skin texture (crepey skin)
  • Loose skin and loss of volume
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Mild skin spots (age spots, sun spots)
To learn more about hand rejuvenation and see if the treatment is right for you, the first step is to set up a consultation with our treatment specialist, Trista Shakeridge. This one-on-one meeting is the perfect time to discuss your goals and get started on building a personalized treatment plan. While some patients may benefit from a single hand rejuvenation treatment, others may see the best results through a unique combination of multiple treatment modalities.

Is There a Recovery Period?

None of our treatments require an extensive recovery period. At most, patients may experience some mild redness or swelling for a couple of days (for fillers) or about one week (microneedling, smooth threads). However, these mild effects should not interfere with a patient’s daily routine, and they can go about work or normal activities often within the same day as a treatment session.

Non-Surgical Hand Rejuvenation Results

Results can be anywhere from near-instant to gradual. For treatments like dermal fillers, patients can see some immediate restoration of volume following a treatment session. Dermal filler treatments tend to last an average of 6-12 months for most patients. While other treatments like smooth threads and microneedling produce more gradual results, they can also promote longer-lasting improvements. Depending on your individual needs, a typical treatment regimen consists of a few microneedling or exosome sessions to see optimal results. For smooth threads, patients can have retreatment after their results begin to fade (which is typically after about 18 months or more)
